There is a heightened level of cautiousness before approving any new hires across-the-board. The trend in applying a higher degree of scrutiny across any practice/team’s revenue and utilization rates before approving a new associate or partner headcount is likely to remain.
2023 will be remembered as the year when Allen & Overy and Shearman & Sterling announced their merger. There will be other projected consolidations in 2024.
In line with the above, we are not anticipating any substantial pay scale changes apart from the ordinary pay reviews. This is in sharp contrast with the “Great Resignation” and Talent War we went through during 2021 and the first half of 2022.
